ESCANABA — The Daniel J. Kobasic Foundation recently presented the Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District’s welding program with a $29,000 check to purchase a new press brake.

Last spring, the DSISD opened the Daniel J. Kobasic Memorial Welding Center to better serve its Career and Technical Education students. Construction of the facility was made possible through funds from federal appropriation, the SME Prime Schools Initiative and the Daniel J. Kobasic Foundation.

During the grand opening, the family of Dan Kobasic asked what else was needed for the program to better educate students about careers in welding and fabrication. New instructor Justin Eugate and Claude Kobasic, brother of Dan Kobasic, noted a press brake machine would be a great addition to the program to teach students about bending and forming metal.

“The DSISD would like to applaud and thank the Daniel J. Kobasic Foundation for their continued support of our Career and Technical Education programming and for understanding that students cannot be what they cannot see when deciding on careers for their futures,” DSISD CTE Principal/Director Trent Bellingar said.

Starting at $3.50/week.
