The Daily Press recognized an outstanding community leader at this year’s chamber annual dinner Oct. 9, presenting the 2025 Delta Force Outstanding Alum Lighthouse Award to Kelly Jefferson, president of OSF St. Francis Hospital and Medical Group and a 2010 Delta Force graduate.
The Lighthouse Award honors a graduate whose leadership serves as a guiding light providing direction, stability and inspiration within the community. Jefferson was celebrated for her steady and compassionate leadership that has illuminated paths for many across Delta County.
Described by Sarah Greenlund, Daily Press publisher, as a leader who “shines through both the calm and the storm,” Jefferson has built a career grounded in both heart and vision. Her professional journey began in 1998 as a registered nurse, where her dedication to healing quickly became apparent. Over the years, she advanced from pediatrics and neonatal care into performance improvement and leadership roles, working throughout the OSF HealthCare system from Peoria, Ill., to Escanaba.
Her move to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula marked more than a professional transition; it was a personal commitment to community. “We consider it a tremendous blessing to live here,” Jefferson said. That gratitude is reflected in her service on the Delta County Economic Development Alliance and chamber of commerce boards, where she helps foster economic and community growth.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Jefferson and her family embrace life in the U.P., often found hiking, kayaking, biking, and snowshoeing through the region’s natural beauty.

Through her leadership, Jefferson continues to promote innovation, compassion and connection in health care and beyond. During the award presentation, she was praised as “a beacon reminding us that leadership, like light, is most powerful when shared.”
Jefferson’s recognition as the 2025 Delta Force Alum of the Year highlights her enduring impact and unwavering commitment to both people and place guiding Delta County toward a brighter, healthier future.
