ESCANABA — The annual “More Than A Uniform” exhibit, with new artists and works to be viewed, will be featured at the Bonifas Arts Center starting today through Oct. 16.

A reception will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Bonifas. Those who attend can enjoy company, refreshments and see what the artists have created.

This exhibit highlight artwork created by service members, veterans, close family members and caregivers.

It aims to give a voice to those who have served the county by displaying their artworks and show the viewer that they are more than a uniform, Bonifas states on its website.

“We hope you will support our local veterans by visiting this exhibit,” Bonifas states.

In preparation for this exhibit, the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain has collaborated with the Bonifas Arts Center and other art centers across the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin to create opportunities for veterans to connect through art.

The Bonifas Arts Center is at 700 First Ave. S. in Escanaba. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays; the center is closed Sundays and Mondays.

Bonifas also reminds veterans they can take any of the center’s classes for free. To register, call 906-786-3833.

Starting at $3.50/week.
