Vande Hey commented, “Being fairly new to the area, I never had the opportunity or pleasure of meeting Mr. & Mrs. Schmit. I have heard many wonderful things about the couple and can see they were well-known members of the community, and felt strongly about their faith, along with how much they cared about our community is evident in their philanthropic wish. We are blessed to have had such caring people who continue to have a positive effect and make a difference now and in the future.”
