Bay Sages meet on August 7
ESCANABA — The regular monthly meeting of the Bay Sages will be held on Thursday, August 7 at 10 a.m. at the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay de Noc Community College. Refreshments will be available.
The Bay Sages is an organization established to provide educational opportunities for older adults residing in the Delta County area. Dues are $20 for the year and includes monthly meetings, coffee and cookies at regular meetings and a wide variety of educational opportunities for members. Guests and new members are welcome. Dues are payable at the meeting or can be mailed to the Bay Sages at Bay College.
The speaker for the meeting will be Dr. Francine Myrick discussing Opiod Overdose and Fentanyl Awareness. She will review the history of the opioid crisis in the US and the current status in the nation and in Delta County. Signs of overdose will be discussed and the use of Narcan. Samples will be distributed.
Food items for the Bay College Food Pantry will be accepted at Bay Sages meetings each month.
Upcoming meetings will be: Sept. 4, Peggy O’Connell; Oct. 2, Chelsea Hart, Bonifas Fine Arts Center; Nov. 8, Vickie Micheau on the UP State Fair; Dec. 4, Delta County Historical Society. There is no meeting in January.
