Pioneer Days this weekend in Manistque

MANISTIQUE — The Schoolcraft County Historical Society is pleased to announce that Pioneer Days, honoring our past, will take place on the grounds of Pioneer Park on June 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Visitors can jump start the day with a lumberjack breakfast offering at Tiffani’s Breakfast Cafe from 8-11 a.m. On exhibit inside the water tower will be the history of Thompson Township and the Christmas Tree Ship. Throughout the grounds will be antique vehicles, logging tools, and knitters, spinners, and weavers demonstrating their crafts. Marvel in a unique collection of antique washing machines and stoves, and explore the grounds including the historical Post House, Kepler Log Cabin, and the vintage fire trucks including the 1880’s hook and ladder. Reenactors will portray early settlers such as Civil War veteran Eli Cool, Manistique businessman George Orr, and singer and musician Hilda Ahlstrom. Children will enjoy a treasure hunt with prizes. Old fashioned cotton candy (spun on site), homemade pies, sno cones, and lemonade will be available for purchase. Suggested donation at entry to the park. All proceeds benefit the future museum.

Starting at $3.50/week.
