Iron Mountain VA gets rating for Community Living Center
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center (OGJVAMC) announced that it received a 5-star rating for its community living center. This marks the fourth consecutive fiscal year in which the OGJVAMC community living center received a 5-star rating.
A 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for a community living center is the best possible rating, signifying high quality care compared to other nursing homes. The rating is based on a combination of factors including survey results, staffing levels, and quality measures of care provided to residents.
This rating system helps families compare different nursing homes and make informed decisions about where to place a loved one. “Our 5-star rating allows Veterans and their loved ones to feel at ease when entering the CLC for short or long-term care needs. Our ratings demonstrate our commitment to excellence and Veteran satisfaction,” said Tara Zoeller, Associate Director for Nursing & Patient Care.
The OGJVAMC 40-bed community living center provides rehabilitation and extended care, including palliative and hospice care. In 2020, a 12,300 square foot addition to the Community Living Center was completed, which provided eleven additional single-occupancy rooms.
This included four spacious hospice rooms with walk-out garden views.
