MENOMINEE — Activities of the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department.
August 22
2:33 p.m. – A deputy along with Spalding Fire were dispatched to a structure fire on Ekberg Rd. Upon arrival the house was fully engulfed. No injuries were reported and no suspicious activity was suspected.
1:42 p.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a single motorcycle crash on CR 374 in Nadeau Township. A motorcycle driven by Christopher Bollon (56) of Carney was turning a corner when he hit some gravel causing him to lose control. Bollon did seek medical treatment on his own. The motorcycle sustained functional damage.
August 23
10:14 a.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a hit and run of a mailbox on River Dr in Menominee Township. Upon further investigation the owner gave a suspect description and just wanted a report on file.
11:50 a.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a domestic assault on Elm Ave in Spalding Township. The caller stated sisters are arguing. An investigation was conducted and the parties involved were separated. The report was sent to the Prosecutor’s office for review.
August 24
3:21 p.m. – A deputy was advised to contact a subject on Pine Ave in Spalding Township for a threat’s complaint. The caller stated he received a threat from a subject on social media and just wanted it documented.
6:10 p.m. – A deputy initiated a traffic stop on US 41 in Menominee Township for speed. Upon further investigation the 20-year-old Stephenson woman was arrested for no operator’s license and cited for following too closely. She was cited and advised to contact 95A District Court of Menominee within 10 days.
August 25
9:12 a.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a domestic situation on Elmwood Rd in Menominee Township. Upon further investigation a 35-year-old Menominee woman was arrested for assault and was transported to the Menominee County Jail where she was lodged.
9:59 p.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a suspicious situation on CR 577 in Menominee Township. The caller stated someone was breaking into a storage unit. Contact was made with the suspect and the owner and the incident was cleared.
August 27
12:31 p.m. – A deputy was dispatched to CR 338 in Ingallston Township for a larceny report. The caller stated she fired a contractor and then suspected that he had stolen some of her items. An investigation was conducted and is ongoing.
August 28
8:14 a.m. – A deputy was dispatched to Swanson Rd in Holmes Township for a larceny complaint. The caller stated he has some items stolen from his property and he wanted a report on file.
August 29
10:35 a.m. – A deputy was dispatched to Bay De Noc Dr in Menominee Township for a civil matter. The caller stated he owned a truck and a subject was refusing to let him take it. An investigation as conducted and the caller was able to take the truck. The subjects involved were advised to contact the court with any further questions.
3:00 p.m. – A deputy arrested a 34-year-old Escanaba man on a valid warrant in Marinette. The warrant was for failure to pay child support out of 95A District Court of Menominee. The man was transported to the Menominee County Jail where he was lodged without incident.
August 30
12:56 p.m. – A deputy made contact with a subject in reference to a possible stolen dog on CR 356 in Lake Township. The caller stated she believes her dog was stolen from an address on CR 358 when she was visiting a subject there. An investigation was conducted and is ongoing.
2:59 p.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a crash involving two ATVs on Second St in Spalding Township. A vehicle driven by Austin Perry (28) of Spalding was stopped at the intersection and failed to see a vehicle driven by David Whitens (41) of Powers. The two ATV’s collided Causing functional damage. No injuries were reported.
August 31
2:52 p.m. – A deputy was dispatched to Cedar St in Spalding Township for a report of an altercation. Upon further investigation it was found to be a verbal family dispute and the incident was cleared.
5:07 p.m. – A deputy was dispatched to Hendrickson Rd in Stephenson Township for a stray animal complaint. Upon further investigation it was found that some pigs are getting out and going on the neighbor’s property and this is an ongoing issue. The owner a 35-year-old Stephenson man was arrested for stray animals. He was given a citation and advised that the 95A District Court would notify him.
