Gladstone woman honored by Michigan Works
GLADSTONE — A Gladstone workforce development leader was awarded Michigan Works! ‘Shining Star’ awards by the Michigan Works! Association for going above and beyond to help job seekers and employers in the Upper Peninsula.
The Shining Star awards celebrate Michigan Works! frontline staff who, through dedication and outstanding contributions to workforce development, personify the Michigan Works! mission.
“Hardworking frontline staff like Amy are why Michigan’s workforce development system is so strong,” said Michigan Works! Association CEO Ryan Hundt. “Her focus and commitment to helping job seekers and employers in our state is improving lives of Michiganders every day.”
Amy Fleury serves as fiscal coordinator at Upper Peninsula Michigan Works! Beyond her daily responsibilities, Amy also facilitates a cooperative and innovative environment by engaging in cross-departmental work groups to improve processes, communication, and efficiency. She manages vital, day-to-day tasks like payroll, procurement, fleet vehicles, office space details, contracts, and countless more of the mundane and thankless variety that few notice.
“I have been lucky enough to work with Amy for the past 20 years,” said Michelle Viau, chief financial officer for Upper Peninsula Michigan Works!. “Her dedication to keeping things running, supporting all of our staff, and finding solutions is second to none. She literally crushes it every day and goes above and beyond, helping UPMW to be the best we can be. She never runs from a challenge and always has a positive attitude. I am delighted that she is receiving this Shining Star award – she absolutely deserves it!”
The award was presented at the association’s annual conference in Traverse City.
