The Fire Station to donate $9,000 to U.P. non-profits

MARQUETTE — The Fire Station is partnering with certified 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations across the Upper Peninsula for its upcoming community giving campaign, Kindling Community. With this initiative, The Fire Station will donate $9,000 across 12 non-profit organizations in six different Upper Peninsula counties.

The purpose of this campaign is to allow the communities of the Upper Peninsula to help determine which non-profit organizations would most benefit from The Fire Station’s financial support. Staff from each of The Fire Station’s nine locations have identified three non-profits from their county whose core values align with The Fire Station’s.

Participating non-profit organizations include:

Menominee County

– Menominee Animal Shelter

– CASA of Menominee / Marinette

– Ravenwood Gardens

Houghton County

– Copper Country Humane Society

– Copper Harbor Trails Club

Iron County

– Taproot Community Farms

– Iron County Historical Museum

– Northwoods Animal Shelter

Marquette County

– Room at the Inn

– Superior Alliance for Independent Living

– Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter (UPAWS)

Alger County

– Alger County Animal Shelter

– Women’s Center

Chippewa County

– Hospice of the EUP

– United Way of the Eastern EUP

Voting will be open to the public from February 19 through February 25. The public will be eligible to cast one vote per day, per county, regardless of whether or not they are a TFS customer. At its conclusion, The Fire Station will be providing $1,000 to the top six non-profits (one per county in which TFS operates). The non-profit with the second most votes per county will receive a $500 donation.

“We understand that no one knows these communities better than the people in them,” shared The Fire Station’s Chief Marketing Officer, Kelsey Potes. “Because of this, we decided to take a portion of our outreach funds and allow the communities to tell us which organizations would benefit the most from our support.”
