Lume Cannabis Co. donates $25,000 to cancer center
EVART, Mich. — When Lume Cannabis Co. has made a $25,000 donation to the new Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson Cancer Center in Iron Mountain. Lume, with a retail location and processing facility in Iron Mountain and six other stores throughout the Upper Peninsula, remains dedicated to giving back to the communities it serves and advancing its mission of providing relief to those suffering from cancer.
“Providing relief to people suffering from cancer has been a core part of our mission at Lume Cannabis from day one,” said Doug Hellyar, president and COO of Lume Cannabis Co. “The healing powers of cannabis for those suffering from cancer have been well documented and we are proud to support a cutting-edge medical facility that provides compassionate care to its patients.”
Lume’s donation to Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson goes toward the facility s $3 million capital campaign for the new cancer facility. The 8,000 square-foot cancer center, slated to open this year, will increase capacity for chemotherapy services and increase cancer patient capacity along with providing a more patient-friendly environment.
The new cancer center is particularly important to the Iron Mountain community because it will bring together a variety of cancer care services all under one roof.
“We are truly thankful to join with community partners like Lume as we take steps toward the opening our new cancer center,” said Mandy Shelast, MCHS Michigan Region president. “Philanthropic offerings like this allow us to add amenities further elevating the comfort and care our patients receive. “
