Players to perform The Marvelous Wonderettes: Dream On

ESCANABA — Back by popular demand, Players de Noc is proud to present the latest installment in the Wonderettes series for their February musical. Written and created by Roger Bean, The Marvelous Wonderettes: Dream On, follows the same cast of characters as they celebrate a retirement party for a favorite teacher in 1969 at their 10 year reunion, featuring some of the best girl-group hits of the 60s. Fast-forward ten years to their 20 year reunion in Act 2 and the tunes change to the classic pop and rock of the 70s.

The cast of the Wonderettes includes: Amy Dier as Betty Jean, the class clown and unlucky-in-love tomboy of the group, Erica Mead as Cindy Lou, who takes her one final chance at musical stardom, Macy Neumeier as Missy, the now teacher married to Mr. Lee, and Autumn Fournier as Suzy, the slightly ditzy blonde who worries that her marriage might be on the rocks. Rounding out the cast is Mark Cowman as the voice of Principal Varney.

Directors Lynn Soderberg and Travis DuBord are also back leading the Wonderettes third musical journey, with help from stage manager Mary Smale and choreographer Nicole Nelson. The live on-stage band features DuBord and Marnie Anderson on keyboards, Noah Dier on guitar, and Miah Barteld on drums.

Assisting Soderberg with stage duties are: Jim Peltier, set designer/construction, Jim Soderberg and Shannon Dubord lights, Susan Roll and Julie Phillips costumes, Pat Feldhusen, Kerry Madalinski and Jesse Traub sound, Mary Ross backstage manager, and Jolie Dzanbozoff and Mariah Lee set decorations.

Dream On runs February 23-25 and March 2-4 at 7:30 p.m. and February 26 for a 1:30 p.m. matinee. All performances are at the William Bonifas Fine Arts Center theater.

Tickets are now on sale for $16 at the Bonifas Center, Delta County Chamber of Commerce building, and on-line at playersdenoc.org.
