Bay Sages meet on October 6

ESCANABA — The Bay Sages will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, October 6, at 10 a.m at the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay de Noc Community College.

The Bay Sages is an organization established to provide educational opportunities for older adults residing in the Delta County area. Dues are $20 for the year and include monthly newsletters, coffee and rolls at regular meetings and a wide variety of educational opportunities for members. Guests and new members are welcome. Dues are payable at the meeting or can be mailed to the Bay Sages at Bay College.

The program for October 6 will feature Bay Sages Board Member Roy Webber who will give a historical overview of paleontology in Delta County. He will discuss local fossils from the Ordovician, the geologic period of 450 million years ago, and the people who investigated the sedimentary rock formations during the past century.

Upcoming programs will include collecting and preserving honey with Martin Fix and Jessica LaMarche (Nov. 3), and Ray and Maggie Miller (Dec. 1) with a travelogue on European travel. The December meeting will also include the annual Christmas luncheon with entertainment.
