ESCANABA -- Guardian Flight, AirMedCare Network along with Guardian Flight, AirMedCare Network and a host of emergency and first response agencies announce the launch of Camp 911 in Delta County.
Camp 911 offers an interactive introduction to emergency medical services. It is open to Delta County youth entering or leaving sixth grade. At Camp 911, youth will learn how to prevent common traffic and home injuries as well as give simple, life-saving emergency care to injured victims. In addition, there will be first-hand opportunities to learn about careers in EMS, emergency nursing and public safety through interaction with many different agency representatives as well as hands-on fun and learning throughout the event.
Camp 911 is a day camp that will be held June 14 – 15 at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba. The event is free with attendance limited to 50 participants (registration is closed).
Lunch, snacks, and beverages will be provided. In addition to meals and the overall experience, each camper will also receive a bystander care kit, Camp 911 t-shirt, emergency information packet and a certificate of completion.
Many local agencies have committed their support for the event, to date this includes: Delta County Central Dispatch, Delta County Sheriff Department, Delta County Search & Rescue, Ensign Township Volunteer Fire Department, Escanaba Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Michigan DNR, Michigan State Police, Public Health Delta & Menominee Counties (PHDM) and Rampart as well as local medical educators and other volunteers
