US-41 resurfacing project starts May 16

MENOMINEE — The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing $10.2 million to resurface 17.9 miles of US-41 from south of 56th Avenue in the city of Menominee to south of County Road 352 in the city of Stephenson. The project includes asphalt milling, two courses of asphalt resurfacing, joint repairs, guardrail replacement, drainage improvements, and pavement markings.

Start date is Monday, May 16 and completion is expected on Friday, Oct. 14.

Motorists should expect intermittent single-lane closures using traffic regulators throughout the project. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place for the duration of the project.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 130 jobs. This work will extend the lifespan of the roadway and result in a smoother driving surface and increased safety for motorists.

Starting at $3.50/week.
