ESCANABA -- The Escanaba Public Library joins libraries in schools, campuses and communities nationwide in Celebrating National Library Week, April 3 - 9, with the theme "Connect with your Library."
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
The Escanaba Public Library serves the City of Escanaba and 11 Delta County townships by providing year-round children's literacy programs, public Internet and wifi service, a complete digital library including free downloadable e-books, audiobooks, magazines and streaming video, print collections for all ages, technical assistance and more.
"This year's theme promotes the idea that libraries are places to get connected to technology by using broadband, computers, and other resources. Libraries also offer opportunities to connect with media, programs, ideas, and information --in addition to books. Most importantly libraries also connect communities to each other," says Carolyn Stacey, library director.
During the week starting Monday, April 4 through Saturday, April 9, patrons are invited to enter a drawing for a chance to win one of two Amazon Fire tablets. There will be one drawing for adults and one for children. Patrons must be a registered library cardholder in good standing to enter. Entry forms are available in the library and entrants will be required to submit 1-2 sentences telling us how they
connect to the library. Entries received will be posted on a display in the library. Patrons will be served refreshments during open hours throughout the week.
