Food safety classes being offered

ESCANABA — ServSafe training, offered by Michigan State University Extension, will be held Friday, December 3 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Delta County MSU Extension Office, 2840 College Avenue, Escanaba. The one day training uses the ServSafe 7th Edition Manager curriculum. Exam is administered at the end of the course. Attendance at the training is required. Instructor is Stephanie Ostrenga Sprague, MPH – MSU Extension food safety educator.

There is a fee for training plus the cost of a 7th edition ServSafe Manager book with the exam answer sheet. You must purchase your book ahead of time. Contact Stephanie Ostrenga Sprague about ordering the book. A score of 75% or above on the exam is required in order to receive a certificate.

Staff who work at restaurants – institutional settings like school cafeterias, nursing home dining halls, etc.- public events where food is prepared and served – kitchens operated by churches, civic groups and other nonprofit organizations should attend this class.
