Madalinski outstanding educator

Brent Madalinski

ESCANABA — Bay College honors Brent Madalinski, full-time business instructor, as one of its recipients of the Outstanding Educator Award. To receive consideration for the award, faculty were nominated by a colleague, student, or someone from the community. The primary focus of this award is to acknowledge faculty s commitment to education and excellence in service to others.

Brent Madalinski has been employed at Bay College since December 2000. Originally hired as a Business Consultant and Business Trainer in Bay College s Workforce Development Department, Madalinski worked with 35 different businesses in Delta, Dickinson, Houghton, Marquette, and Menominee County delivering workforce development training in a variety of soft skills areas. In addition, he was an account manager and then became the Director of Workforce Development. From January 2001 to May 2007, he was also an adjunct instructor in the Business Division, teaching a variety of business courses. He became a full-time business instructor in Fall 2007. His two core classes are Introduction to Business and Principles of Management, having also taught Business Communications, Principles of Selling, and Public Speaking.

Prior to working at Bay College, Madalinski was a business manager for United Parcel Service (UPS) for 14 years, where he managed five different UPS facilities in Michigan. He holds a Master of Science Degree in General Administration from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from Northern Michigan University. Madalinski was named Outstanding Educator for Bay College in 2012 and 2016. He also received the PRIDE Award in February 2005 and the TORCH Award in November 2016.

In the fall of 2014, Madalinski became a Certified Local Chapter Advisor for Business Professionals of America (BPA) and helped start the student club, BPA. BPA’s cornerstones are Community Service, Leadership, and Workplace Skills Development. He has taken students to compete at the BPA National Leadership Conferences in Anaheim, CA (2015), Boston, MA (2016), Orlando, FL (2017), Dallas, TX (2018), and back again to Anaheim in 2019. Because of COVID-19 safety protocols, the 2020 conference in Washington D.C. was cancelled.

Madalinski is a pillar within our Business Division and brings creativity, passion and energy to his classrooms. He cares deeply about each and every student s success and spends countless hours prepping for his courses, serving on numerous college committees, advising students and serving as club advisor for Business Professionals of America .
