Fairgrounds hosts Branstrom cattle show

2 min read

ESCANABA -- The Lori Branstrom Memorial U.P. Classic Cattle Show welcomes exhibitors ages 8 through 21 to this first-time show to be held at the Upper Peninsula State Fairground from June 19 through June 20.

The U.P. Classic Cattle Show is the only cattle show held in Delta County apart from the U.P. State Fair and serves to provide the youth with an outlet for growth, socialization, and memorable competition. Spectators are encouraged to enjoy food vendors and participate in the 50/50 raffle that goes towards the Lori Branstrom Memorial Scholarship and the J.P. Zawacki Fitting Competition at the U.P. State Fair.

Sponsorship is needed to help offset costs and is a great way to support the region's youth. Laci Mitchell, one of the organizers of the event, encourages businesses to get involved. "We definitely need all the sponsors we can get, being that it is the first year," said Mitchell.

The U.P. Classic Cattle Show honors Lori Branstrom, a long-standing Exhibitor's Manager for the U.P. State Fair, who lost her fight to cancer last February. Branstrom is celebrated for all the time and effort she dedicated to the youth across the region. Exhibitors have a unique opportunity to participate in the show and be a part of the legacy Branstrom left behind.

Registration is due by June 1. A late entry fee will be required for those who missed the deadline and are not guaranteed a T-shirt. Late entries will be accepted up until the end of the designated check-in on June 18.
