Bay ranked in top 10 of online list

ESCANABA — Guide to Online Schools has ranked Bay College in the top 10 of all community colleges in Michigan at number six. Adria Vaughan from Guide to Online Schools said, “Each community college was ranked by several important factors, including retention rate, graduation rate, percentage of online enrollment data, and the number of online associate degrees offered. We also provide a manually researched tuition rate, sourced from the college’s official website.”

Bay College has implemented a number of strategies to ensure the success of all online students and requires that all online instructors are certified through a rigorous six week certification course that is based around the Quality Matters Rubric0, peer-to-peer feedback, best practices in online learning and direct interaction with Bay’s instructional designers.

Bay College also requires all new online and hybrid students to complete an Online Learning Orientation before entering their online or hybrid courses in order to give them the skills they need to be successful.

Bay College has also been an early adopter of Open Educational Resources and has saved students over $1,000,000.00 on textbook fees by using textbooks that reside in the creative commons and are around $40.00 for a printed copy in the bookstore and FREE online. All of these initiatives have led to Online Student Success at Bay College.
