ESCANABA — The Delta County Historical Society Board has decided not to open the Sand Point Lighthouse and the Delta County Historical Museum and Archives this summer because of the coronavirus pandemic. “Normally we would be open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. However, in considering social distancing recommendations and the overall health and safety of our visitors and staff, it just seemed inadvisable to open the lighthouse with its narrow staircase and the rather small rooms in the building,” said Charles Lindquist Delta County Historical Society president.

If conditions improve considerably, the board may open these facilities on a limited basis later in the summer.
