Health department plans to reopen

ESCANABA — On May 18, 2020, Governor Whitmer announced that as of Friday, May 22, the Upper Peninsula has moved to Phase 4 of the “MI Safe Start Plan.” Phase 4, the containing stage, allows for the reopening of many businesses, retailers, and agencies including Public Health Delta & Menominee Counties (PHDM).

As of June 1, PHDM will reopen to the public with the following provisions: All PHDM staff will be screened and temperature checked daily upon arrival to work. Masks will be worn and social distancing will be maintained to the ability that the building allows. Increased sanitization of the reception area and meeting spaces will occur, and regular hand sanitizing, including handwashing between appointments will take place.

For many programs offered at PHDM, in-person appointments will resume; however, clients will be screened for symptoms/exposure before the appointment. If you are feeling ill or exhibiting any symptoms, call to reschedule your appointment for a later date. If you are medically able, face masks/coverings will be required.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC)

Certification and recertification appointments will continue via telephone through June 30. If you are in need of an appointment, contact the WIC office at 906-786-4112 to schedule. For breastfeeding questions or to obtain a breast pump, call or text our peer counselor at 906-280-8239.

Personal Health and Family Planning Services

For contraceptive needs or STI screening/treatment, call our office at 906-786-4115. Staff is also available to answer questions by phone.

Children’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS)

Staff will provide care coordination and plan of care appointments by phone or in office as needed. If you have questions or need assistance, please call 906-789-8108.

Immunizations

Appointments for immunizations will resume. For questions or to schedule an immunization appointment, please call 906-786-4111.

Breast and Cervical Cancer Control and Navigation Program

The BCCCNP program will begin taking appointments. To make an appointment or to determine program eligibility please call 906-789-8110.

WISEWOMAN

WISEWOMAN clinics will begin in June. Call 906-786-4111 to make an appointment.

Environmental Health

Environmental Health offices will open to the public. Contact Environmental Health at 906-786-9692 for Delta County. Environmental Health office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
