Boy Scout can, bottle drive is Saturday

ESCANABA — Boy Scout Troop 411 of Escanaba will again conduct a bottle and can drive as a fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to support troop functions. Scouts and leaders will be in uniform and collecting bottles and cans at Elmer’s County Market and at Walmart. All of the funds raised at the bottle and can drive stay in Escanaba with the troop and the area boys.

The funds, along with the annual popcorn sale, are the major funding sources for the troop. The funds help the troop provide a quality program to the boys, and help fund events like going to: Camp Hiawatha, Mackinac Island Service Camp, National Youth Leadership Training, and Capital Trip for Merit Badge and many more.

Area residents are asked to start saving up their returnables to help support the area Boy Scouts.

In case you don’t have any cans, the Scouts will also have a donation can available.

Any questions about the drive, or if you want a nice big bag of cans picked up, contact Troop 411 Treasurer Betty Williams at williamsbetty82@gmail.com or 280-0717.
