FORD RIVER TOWNSHIP -- A Marquette man was injured in a recent crash in Ford River Township.
At 2:43 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, deputies of the Delta County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to 4998 M-35 in Ford River Township for a personal injury accident. It was reported the driver involved in the accident was bleeding from his head and that there were power lines across the road.
The driver -- Jeffrey Plourde, 57, of Marquette -- was apparently traveling northbound on M-35 with his son Nickolas Plourde, 19, of Marquette when the accident occurred. Jeffrey ran off the roadway to the left, and hit a utility pole and several trees before coming to a rest.
A deputy spoke with Jeffrey, who said he and his son were returning from a Packer game in Green Bay when he fell asleep at the wheel. He was cited for careless driving and given 10 days to contact the court.
Jeffrey complained of injury to his left shoulder. He and Nickolas were transported by Rampart EMS to OSF HealthCare St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group for treatment.
