Home repair assistance available

ESCANABA — The Menominee-Delta-Schoolcraft Community Action Agency is seeking homeowners who are income qualified to participate in the Neighborhood Enhancement Program through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) for the most recently announced Neighborhood Enhancement Program. Up to $30,000 each may be used in target communities in Escanaba, Manistique and Menominee.

If your gross income falls below $73,300 annually for a family of four and can be verified with appropriate documents, you may be eligible for a home repair loan of up to $15,000. Funds may be used for exterior and interior repairs. Improvements such as siding, roofing, paint, doors and window replacements are part of this program. The funding will be construed as a forgivable non-pro-rated lien on your property for a period of five years. The lien holder will be MSHDA. Your home must be insured, all property taxes current, and must be your primary residence with no renters.

If you are interested, or know someone who might be eligible, contact the agency at 906-786-7080, ext 151, and ask for Naomi. Deadline for pre-applications is Nov. 20.
