Bay College movie fundraiser rescheduled

ESCANABA — The outdoor movie event and fundraiser for the Bay College Food Pantry originally planned for Thursday, Oct. 17, has been rescheduled for Oct. 30.

Because of frigid temperatures, the event will be moved to Bay College room 952 in the Joseph Heirman Center. The showing will be at 7 p.m. Co-sponsors, the Bay College Film Series and Northern Sun Winery, will be showing the cult classic Moonrise Kingdom.

“We will continue our out door theme inside, so bring your lawn chairs, blankets, pillows, said Food Pantry Coordinator Jill Martin,.

Other seating will be provided.

“Popcorn and soda are part of the ticket price, “ said Film Series Coordinator Nanci Love. Susie Anthony adds, “Attendees over 21 will also get a coupon for two free wine tastings from Northern Sun.” All proceeds will go to support the Bay College Food Pantry.

The Bay Food Pantry operates in conjunction with Feeding America, a nonprofit network of food banks across the country. Jill Martin, Director of TRIO and the Pantry says that students brought the issue to the college’s attention. “Students can’t perform well academically when they’re hungry.” The pantry is sponsored by Aldi and private donations.

Tickets can be purchased at the Bay College ticket window, the tasting room at Northern Sun, or online at https://www.northernsunwinery.com/shop.
