Free diabetes workshop to be offered

ESCANABA — A free diabetes self-management workshop is looking to be offered at the MTEC Center. The Diabetes-PATH (Personal Action Towards Health) workshop is a six-week workshop designed to provide the skills and tools needed by people living with Type 2 diabetes to improve their health and manage their symptoms. As a result, participants are better equipped to face the daily challenge of living with diabetes. Two trained leaders conduct the workshop. Subjects covered include: symptoms of diabetes, stress, managing fatigue and emotional problems, exercise, healthy eating, medications, and working with health care providers.

This six week class will meet on Wednesday afternoons at the MTEC center starting Wednesday, Oct. 16, through Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Class sizes are limited and preregistration is required — family and caregivers are welcome to attend this workshop. There is no cost to attend. To be placed on the rosters for the upcoming workshop call the YMCA at 789-0005. Program administered by the YMCA, with support from UPCAP.
