Free diabetes workshop to be offered in Escanaba
ESCANABA — A free diabetes self-management workshop is being offered at the MTEC Center. The Diabetes-PATH (Personal Action Towards Health) workshop is a six-week workshop designed to provide the skills and tools needed by people living with Type 2 diabetes to improve their health and manage their symptoms. As a result, participants are better equipped to face the daily challenge of living with diabetes. Two trained leaders conduct the workshop. Subjects covered include: symptoms of diabetes, stress, managing fatigue and emotional problems, exercise, healthy eating, medications, and working with health care providers.
This six-week class will meet on Monday afternoons at the MTEC center starting Wednesday, June 19, and going until Wednesday, July 24, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Class sizes are limited and pre registration is required — family and caregivers are welcome to attend this workshop. There is no cost to attend. To be placed on our roster for the upcoming workshop call the YMCA at 789-0005. Program administered by the YMCA, with support from Blue Cross and Blue Shield and UPCAP.
