U.P.s Got Talent holding online auditions

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — The “UP’s Got Talent” Committee will take online audition submissions at noon Monday through June 7, giving potential contestants throughout the Upper Peninsula a shot at the $1,500 grand prize and the opportunity to produce a show at Kewadin Casino’s Dream Makers Theater.

The “U.P.’s Got Talent” finals are Saturday, Aug. 10, at Kewadin Casino in Sault Ste. Marie.

Youtube is the preferred method of submission. Contestants may send a link with a three to five-minute video to Tim Ellis at Eagle Radio, tim@radioeagle.com. Finalists will be asked to pay a $50 commitment fee by July 1 and raise $1,000 in sponsorship funds to show their ability to generate community support. All proceeds benefit the Chippewa County Family Project, which is building a foster home for area teens.

The first round of auditions were held May 4 at Bay Mills Casino. Caitlin Wanic, Karley McLean and Kellen Perron were the top three finishers. The Sass Squad (Lilianna Gallegos, Hannah Klier and Aubrey Agar), Judith King, Any Shaw, Morgan Brown and Stephanie Sabatine also moved on to the final round.

Talent scouts and producers will judge the final show at Kewadin Casino. In addition to the prize money, the grand champion will take home 50 percent of the ticket sales from his or her produced show. The “People’s Choice” winner will serve as the opening act during the “U.P.’s Got Talent” grand champion’s production.
