Kids on Kampus returns to Bay College

ESCANABA — The Kids on Kampus summer youth programs will return to Bay College in Escanaba. A variety of course options will provide students with an opportunity to experience learning in a format different than a traditional classrooms. Kids entering fourth through seventh grade will experience hands-on learning during three-day courses focused on activities and fun.

Course offerings include: Bugs, Berries and Hikes, Explore with Cameras, LEGO Robotics, Phun with Physics, Electricity – It’s a Snap, and Monster Mash-Up. Courses will run from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday to Thursday and are available the weeks of June 18, June 25, July 9 and July 16. Parents can register their children for one week or more than one week if they want to experience different courses. There is a fee to attend and students will receive a free t-shirt and a snack and drink.

“Kids on Kampus is designed to allow students an opportunity to explore subjects they may have limited access to during the typical school year. We have carefully selected courses to provide a nice variety of learning opportunities including LEGOs, poetry writing, physics, photography and electronics. Bay College faculty were excited to get involved once we began talking about curriculum and what courses we wanted to offer. This is really a group effort with the support of Kathy Becker, DCCAN Coordinator, Michigan Works and the Bay College staff and faculty. We have a terrific program prepared for area youth and look forward to having young students on campus this summer,” said Cindy Carter, dean of business, technology and workforce development.
