Representatives from the Delta County Commerce Center accepted a $5,000 contribution from the Escanaba Rotary Club for the continued construction of the new multi-use complex located at the U.P. State Fairgrounds. The donation was the final amount required to meet the Commerce Center’s $50,000 goal toward the Patronicity crowdfunding campaign. With that achieved, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) will match an additional $50,000 for a combined total of $100,000 toward the project’s completion. “This gift brings us one step closer to achieving a decade long vision of a premiere Welcome Center to our community and Upper Peninsula” said Vickie Micheau (pictured right), chamber of commerce executive director. “As one of the many organizations being housed in this new building, I want to offer my thanks to the Rotary Club for their investment in this project,” said TJ Thomas (pictured left), executive director of the Delta County EDA, “It’s been humbling to experience the continued show of support from local businesses, organizations and citizens of Delta County.” Rena Richtig, Rotary president and Caren Crawford, a Rotary and Chamber board member are pictured in the middle.
