Players to present ‘Moon Over Buffalo’
ESCANABA — Players de Noc will present Ken Ludwig’s “Moon Over Buffalo.” The play is directed by James Soderberg and production stage manger is Mary Smale
Opening Friday, April 26, and running through May 4, “Moon Over Buffalo” is a comedic romp, which centers on George and Charlotte Hay, two fading stars of the 1950s’. At the moment, they’re playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in repertory in Buffalo, New York. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s tryst with a young ingenue, they receive word that they might have one last shot at stardom. Famous director Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee. If he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his latest movie.
Unfortunately, for George and Charlotte, everything that could go wrong does go wrong, aided by a visit from their daughter’s anxious fiance, hilarious uncertainty about which play they’re actually performing, and several perilous misunderstandings by Charlotte’s elderly, hearing impaired mother who hates every bone in George’s body. With a plethora of pratfalls, slamming doors, and several cases of mistaken identity, Ken Ludwig’s Moon Over Buffalo is a fast-paced, hilarious screwball comedy sure to leave audiences rolling in the aisles.
