Funday Sunday concert helps Honor Flight

BARK RIVER U.P. Gumbo will perform Sunday afternoon at Northern Sun Winery’s first “Funday Sunday” Benefit Concert.

U.P. Gumbo is a group of Marquette area musicians who specialize in zydeco and New Orleans-style music; their 4 p.m. performance opens the three-concert summer series at the vineyard. As part of the afternoon gathering, Northern Sun offers a wide range of their estate-grown and bottled wines. Concert ticket price includes free wine samples; also included is a free vineyard tour at 3 p.m. prior to the concert.

Sunday’s concert proceeds will benefit Honor Flight. Tickets are available at the winery or the Delta County Chamber of Commerce.

Bring lawn chairs or a blanket to spread to enjoy the music; visitors are welcome to bring a picnic lunch or snacks as well (no alcoholic beverage carry-ins permitted, however). Concerts proceed rain or shine.

Northern Sun is located south of Bark River and U.S. 2 at 983 10th Road; watch for directional signs from U.S. 2 and on southbound D Road (South Bark River Road).

For more information, contact Northern Sun at 906.399.9212 or visit www.northernsunwinery.com; check Facebook postings for Northern Sun Winery, too.

Other concerts in the “Funday Sunday” series will include Genna and Jesse on July 15 and Kitty Donohoe on Aug. 19.
