Bay Sages plan meeting on May 3

ESCANABA — The next meeting of the Bay Sages will be held on Thursday, May 3, at 10 a.m. at the Joseph Heirman University Center conference rooms. Refreshments are served.

Growing up today is challenging for children. The media shares tragic stories of children abused, abandoned and neglected. Play Therapy has proven effective in helping children adjust to the challenges they might face. Play is our first language and is a child’s natural medium of self expression. It allows a child to “play out” their feelings and problems just as certain types of adult therapy allows an individual to “talk out” their difficulties. Elizabeth Moberg, LMSW, will explain what play therapy is and why it’s effective in helping children and sometimes adults work through marital challenges, Some playful experiences will be incorporated.

Members and guests are welcome to attend meetings of the Bay Sages, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting lifelong learning opportunities for older adults. There is a membership fee per year and includes 11 monthly meetings, two of which are luncheon meetings, and monthly newsletters.
