Defendants sentenced in court

ESCANABA – The following individuals were recently sentenced in unrelated cases in Delta County Circuit Court in Escanaba.

Kent Wesley King, 36, of 816 1st Ave. S., Apt. No. 1, Escanaba, pleaded guilty to one count of probation violation with the underlying offense of attempted assault by strangulation. He was sentenced to five days in jail and given credit for two days already served. His probation was continued.

Jodi Lynn Ray, 41, of 1519 10.5 Lane, Bark River, pleaded guilty to one count of larceny less than $200. She was sentenced to seven days in jail and ordered to pay $518 in fines and costs.

Defendants sentenced in court

ESCANABA – The following individuals were recently sentenced on unrelated charges in Delta County Circuit Court in Escanaba.

James Elmer Highlund Jr., 48, of 9980 LL Road, Rapid River, pleaded guilty to one count of larceny in a building in connection with the theft of a prescription drug from a residence in Garden Township on Oct. 31, 2014. He was sentenced to six months in jail and given credit for two days already served. He was placed on probation for 18 months. Highlund was ordered to pay $3,328 in fines and costs and $439 in jury expenses after making a plea right before a scheduled trial.

Ryan Lee Lucier, 20, of 213 N. 16th St., Escanaba, pleaded guilty to one count of controlled substance – possession of Mathamphetamine/ Ecstasy and pleaded guilty to diving on a suspended license. He was sentenced to six months in jail on the drug charge and given credit for 95 days already served. He was sentenced to 93 days on the license violation and given credit for 93 days already served. His drivers license was suspended for 30 days and restricted for 150 days. Lucier was ordered to pay $248 in fines and costs. The two sentences were concurrent.
