MACKINAC ISLAND – The Fair Access to Mackinac Island coalition praised the news that the City of Mackinac Island and Hoffmann Family of Companies’ Arnold Transit Company and Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry plan to enter into mediation regarding continuing ferry service in 2027 and beyond.
Ferry service is currently available for the entire 2026 season.
“Our mission is to encourage fair, consistent ferry service for anyone who wants to make memories on Mackinac Island,” said John Sellek, Fair Access to Mackinac Island spokesperson.
“While ferry service continues this year, we are excited to see that the city and ferry service are coming to the table and optimistic that they can work together to negotiate a solution for next year and beyond. In the meantime, we will continue helping visitors plan their 2027 events on Mackinac Island, ranked by USA Today’s 10BEST as America’s #1 Best Summer Travel Destination,” Sellek concluded.
