Welcoming Three New Leaders to the Chamber Board

Minding our own Business

Nick Chenier

Every so often, someone asks me, “What does the Chamber Board actually do?”

From the outside, it might look like a meeting once a month or a name printed in a program. But after working alongside volunteer boards for most of my professional life, I can tell you it’s far more meaningful than that.

The Board of Directors sets the direction for the Delta County Chamber of Commerce. They guide our budget, approve the annual Plan of Work and calendar of events, and ensure the Chamber operates responsibly and sustainably. But beyond policies and planning, serving on the Board is about servant leadership and a genuine commitment to community.

Our directors represent a cross-section of Delta County business and professional leadership. When they take their seats at the table, they are not just representing their own business, they are serving the membership as a whole. They ask thoughtful questions, respectfully weigh different perspectives, and work together to support the Chamber’s mission.

Over the years, I’ve witnessed how much thought and care goes into the decisions made around our board table. These are not casual conversations; they are discussions about how to support our members and strengthen our Delta County business climate.

Tyler Myrick

Recently, Jesse Huff, Chamber Board Chair, introduced and welcomed three new members to our Board:

Nick Chenier, Co-owner, Chenier’s Greenhouse, Inc.

Nick brings deep local roots and a passion for community. As co-owner of the family-run greenhouse, he has helped grow a business that has been a Delta County staple for generations. Beyond his business, he serves on the Bay de Noc Community College Board of Trustees and supports initiatives like the U.P. Honor Flight.

Tyler Myrick, Owner, Youngs Menswear

Tyler has been active with the Chamber through the Delta Force Community Leadership Program and his business, Youngs Menswear in Escanaba and Marquette. He brings firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities small businesses face and is passionate about supporting local commerce and strengthening the community.

Kimberly Kareckas

Kimberly Kareckas, VP of Culture & Member Experience, Peninsula Federal Credit Union

Kimberly is a Delta Force graduate, former Big Sister mentor, and volunteer for numerous community projects. She has served on the Community Thanksgiving Dinner board and is deeply committed to contributing to the Chamber’s continued success and strategic direction.

Each of these individuals has chosen to give their time, which is something we all know is in short supply, in service to our Chamber and community.

Serving on the Chamber Board is not about recognition, it’s about responsibility, thoughtfulness and vision. Community development doesn’t happen by accident; it happens because people choose to “show up.” I am deeply grateful to everyone who continues to show up, right here in our waterfront community and at the Delta County Chamber of Commerce.

Starting at $3.50/week.
