GLADSTONE — VanAire announces the retirement of Eric Miller, co-owner and vice president of manufacturing. Eric played a central role in shaping VanAire’s manufacturing culture, operational excellence, and global reputation during his 29-year tenure. He also helped grow the company from 9 to 84 employees, 50 of whom were his direct or indirect reports, and led multiple plant expansions, new product developments, and significant equipment upgrades.
“Eric has been a foundational leader at VanAire,” said CEO Steve Soderman. “His steady leadership, deep operational knowledge and commitment to doing things the right way helped build the manufacturing backbone of our company. The systems, standards and culture he helped establish will continue to serve VanAire well into the future.”
Miller helped guide VanAire’s evolution into a globally-recognized leader in both Engineered Valve Automation Hardware and Wastewater Product Solutions. His leadership was instrumental in developing and sustaining a world-class manufacturing operation, aligning people, processes, and equipment. He spearheaded initiatives that advanced VanAire’s mission to engineer and manufacture high-quality products while maintaining disciplined growth, long-term financial stability, and strong customer commitment.
Miller was also a strong steward of VanAire’s Employee Covenant, championing a workplace rooted in fairness, safety, respect and accountability. Under his leadership, VanAire’s manufacturing facilities became environments where empowered employees take pride in rewarding work performed in safe, clean and highly capable operations.
“Eric’s influence extends far beyond equipment and processes,” said Tony Lambert, co-owner of VanAire. “He cares deeply about our team and our community, and believes strongly in creating real opportunities for young people through vocational education. This focus will continue in our culture, our facilities, and the next generation of talent he helped inspire.”
Beyond VanAire’s walls, Miller was deeply committed to the community and workforce development. He worked closely with local ISD and Career & Technical Education (CTE) vocational programs, helping create pathways for high school students to explore careers in skilled trades and manufacturing. Through mentorship, collaboration, and advocacy, Eric played a meaningful role in developing future talent – strengthening both VanAire and the broader regional workforce.
VanAire extends its sincere gratitude to Eric Miller for his 29 years of service, leadership and partnership, and wishes him continued success and fulfillment in retirement. They also congratulate John Winker, who has been promoted to plant manager.
