Nahma Pines Cabin B&B announces grand opening

NAHMA — Nestled along the serene shores of Big Bay de Noc, Nahma Pines Cabin B&B announces its grand opening on Wednesday, April 30. With its rustic charm and modern amenities, this brand-new log home offers a peaceful retreat for travelers exploring the Upper Peninsula or professionals seeking temporary lodging in the area.

Owners Brent and Amy Berglund built Nahma Pines Cabin B&B with hospitality in mind, fulfilling a longtime dream of opening a bed and breakfast. After becoming empty nesters in 2017 and with Brent retiring from teaching the same year, Amy was inspired to create a space where guests could relax and experience the beauty of the Upper Peninsula. The couple officially moved into their newly constructed log home in March 2024 and began welcoming guests with a soft opening in June 2024.

“Our vision was to create a cozy, welcoming space where guests can unwind and connect with nature,” said Amy Berglund. “The peaceful location, breathtaking sunrises, and direct access to Big Bay de Noc make it a truly special place. We’re excited to share it with visitors who want to experience the UP’s beauty firsthand.”

Nahma Pines Cabin B&B offers three guest rooms, each with access to shared living spaces, including a kitchen, living room, and family room. The full house can accommodate up to 10 guests, making it ideal for family getaways, small group retreats, or long-term stays for traveling professionals such as nurses. Two of the guest rooms feature private deck access with stunning views of Big Bay de Noc.

Situated on over 1,000 feet of shoreline, the property boasts a newly built boardwalk leading to the water’s edge. The calm, shallow waters in front of the cabin are a popular fishing spot, and the peaceful surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for relaxation. The property is also adjacent to the Nahma Golf Course and just two miles from the historic Nahma Inn, offering convenient dining options.

Guests at Nahma Pines Cabin B&B can start their mornings with a delicious homemade breakfast featuring family-favorite recipes. Weekend mornings include a full hot breakfast, with specialties such as Pappa Mom’s quiche, Aunt Lori’s French toast casserole, and Brent’s favorite egg bake. For those staying during the week, a continental breakfast is available Monday through Friday, ensuring a delightful start to each day.

In addition to providing a tranquil getaway for visitors, the Berglunds plan to expand Nahma Pines Cabin B&B’s offerings by promoting it as a destination event space for intimate gatherings, retreats, and special occasions.

“We are excited to welcome Nahma Pines Cabin B&B to the community,” said Victoria George, Executive Director of Schoolcraft Tourism & Commerce. “This beautiful retreat is a fantastic addition to the area, offering visitors a unique place to stay while enjoying all that Schoolcraft County and the Upper Peninsula have to offer.”

The public is invited to celebrate the Grand Opening on April 30, starting at noon.
