New McDonald’s holds grand opening, ribbon cutting in Manistique

MANISTIQUE –Tim and Cathy Wilson of Escanaba, are thrilled to announce the grand opening of their newest McDonald’s restaurant in Manistique. This is their third locally owned and operated McDonald’s Restaurant, and currently employ over 170 full and part-time employees.

Tim and Cathy have owned and operated the McDonald’s Restaurants in Gladstone and Escanaba since purchasing them in 2006 from Tim’s parents, Tom and Donna Wilson (Gladstone), upon their retirement. Prior to that, Tim was the supervisor of his parent’s McDonald’s locations for 20 years.

“We are incredibly excited to bring McDonald’s to the Manistique area,” said Tim Wilson, owner of the new restaurant. “Our goal is to provide our customers with exceptional service, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere.”

According to Kimberly Shiner, mayor of Manistique, “The City Of Manistique is thrilled to have McDonalds open in our community.  It fills a need for many families that live here and travel here.  It’s exciting for our community and we are grateful for those who believe in starting their business in our community.”

“There are great things happening in the Manistique area and we’re excited to be part of it. Thank you for welcoming and supporting us,” said Cathy Wilson.

The Manistique McDonald’s will feature modern amenities, including convenient self-service kiosks for ordering and the ability to place orders through the McDonald’s app. These features are designed to enhance the customer experience and offer flexibility in how guests choose to dine.

Victoria George, executive director of Schoolcraft Tourism & Commerce and EDC, expressed her enthusiasm for the Wilson family’s decision to expand their business in Manistique. “We are delighted to welcome Tim and Cathy Wilson to our community,” said George. “This new McDonald’s will not only create jobs but also provide a valuable addition to our local dining scene, attracting both residents and visitors alike.”

Corey Barr, City Manager/Zoning Administrator, added, “We are incredibly grateful that Tim and Cathy chose Manistique to open their new business. It was a pleasure working with them and the McDonald’s Corporation from the start to completion of the building project.”

The grand opening of the Manistique McDonald’s was celebrated with a ribbon cutting on Thursday, October 24.
