Alyson Sundberg

MARQUETTE– UP Health System – Marquette (UPHS – Marquette) is proud to announce that Alyson Sundberg, MBA, has been named vice president (VP) of operations. A seasoned healthcare leader, Alyson previously served as the market director of risk management and emergency preparedness and has been with UPHS – Marquette for more than 24 years.

Alyson started with Marquette General Hospital in 1985 and has worked in the Lab, Medical Records and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as a licensed paramedic and instructor with the School of EMT. After that time, she spent five years working as a civilian with the Air Force as a site manager and safety engineer on many conversion and hazardous waste restoration projects. When she returned to our hospital in 2005, she spent many years managing our compliance, risk and safety efforts before being named the market director of risk management for UP Health System – Bell, Marquette and Portage in 2021.

For more than 20 years, Alyson has worked with all hospitals and EMS agencies throughout the Upper Peninsula on collaborative emergency preparedness programs. She is an EMS Coordination Committee representative with the Michigan Health & Hospital Association, a representative of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Legislative Subcommittee, and a member of several local health and emergency preparedness boards.

As VP of operations, Alyson will oversee support services such as imaging and laboratory, plant operations, clinical engineering, EMS and more.

In her free time, she enjoys carpentry and woodworking, traveling, and spending time on the water in the summer with her family.
