ESCANABA -- The Northern Lights YMCA Delta Center has announced the hiring of Escanaba native Raquel Johnson as the new Delta Center youth, family and sports director. Johnson attended Escanaba High School before graduating with a bachelor's in business management from Northern Michigan University in 2015 which led her to an early career in retail and customer service. She has most recently been employed at the YMCA as a Member Care Specialist and special event volunteer.
Johnson is thrilled about her new position and noted, "I love everything about the YMCA, the people, the staff, the volunteers, our members and the kids involved in our programs, people make the difference. The service and impression I get to make as a YMCA staff member to our members and community is incredibly rewarding. There are a great many opportunities for new programs, collaborations with other community partners, and events that I'm excited to start exploring to better serve our community. It's a great place to be," she said.
Johnson and her fiance share a rescue dog and enjoy reading, kayaking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She is looking forward to fulfilling the YMCA mission of Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility for the community.
