ESCANABA — Exact Eye Care is pleased to announce that Dr. LeAnne Gartland is the new business owner.

Dr. Gartland started in August of 2021 as the practice’s only optometrist. She happily continued caring for the patients of recent retirees, Dr. Paul Raboin and Dr. Dale Freel. The previous owner, George Tokarczyk opened Exact Eye Care, previously known as Kindy Optical, over 40 years ago.

Dr. Gartland graduated with highest distinctions from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University. She was raised in the Upper Peninsula by her grandparents, Sandy and the late LeRoy Brunette of Gladstone. She graduated top 10 from Gladstone High School in 2012. She went on to study in the Ferris State University’s Honors Program and was accepted into Michigan College of Optometry through the 3+4 Admissions Program.

Dr. Gartland’s previous position was at the Iron County Eye Center in Iron River, Mich. She recently moved back to the area with her husband Jake Gartland, son of Doug and Dianne Gartland of Gladstone. Together they enjoy skiing, spending time with family, and taking their puppy, Louie for long walks.

Though Exact Eye Care looks forward to many new and exciting changes, the amazing staff that has served your family for many years is the same. Salli Houle, the office manager, just celebrated her 39th work anniversary. Marcia Boden and Mary Wight have been with the practice for 31 and 23 years respectively. Exact Eye Care will be in the same location at 312

North Lincoln Road in Escanaba. The building is also under the new ownership of Jayne and Marvin Szukalowski of North Lincoln Center LLC and Anytime Fitness.
