ESCANABA — From California rolls to Sushi Burritos, sushi lovers now can check out Elmer’s County Market’s new sushi bar when craving fresh sushi.

On Friday, Elmer’s County Market held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new sushi bar in collaboration with Sushi with Gusto, a privately-owned business that partners with upscale grocery stores, universities and health care systems. Sushi with Gusto has over 300 sushi bars across the country.

“We are so excited to have such a high quality sushi made daily in our store. All of the comments so far have been great,” Rod Stende, Elmer’s general manager, said.

Nay Nay and May are the sushi chefs at the new Sushi with Gusto in Elmer’s.

Stende said they are at the sushi bar seven days a week making fresh sushi throughout the day.

At a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday, there were free samples and guests had an opportunity to register to win sushi gift cards or a free sushi party tray.

Ron Miaso, representing the Ambassadors of Delta County, presented Nay Nay and May a framed dollar bill to represent the first dollar they made at the new establishment.

Every Sushi with Gusto sushi bar offers a broad selection of sushi and other Asian-inspired menu items made fresh on-site each day by a sushi chef who has been intensively trained according to exacting standards established by master sushi chef Hisamichi “Fuji” Fujimura, Sushi with Gusto’s president and chief executive officer.

The new sushi bar’s menu will feature specialty items such as Spicy Avocado Crab Inari, Poke Bowls and Sushi Burritos along with perennial favorites such as Sushi with Gusto’s version of the California roll and Spider Roll.

Sushi with Gusto offers consumers delicious, freshly-prepared sushi in convenient grab ‘n go packaging.

“More and more people are realizing that sushi is delicious, and it fits into a healthy diet and lifestyle. We are delighted to bring our line of sushi products to Elmer’s County Market,” said Nick Spiak III, the vice president of sales and marketing of Sushi with Gusto.
