ESCANABA — Hiawatha Chef Supply of Escanaba and Appleton has won its fourth Excellerator sales award in eight years. The company grew its business with Excell Foodservice Equipment Dealer Network members by more than 25 percent last year, to become one of just 24 dealers to take a trophy at the Excell 2019 Annual Conference.

“This is exciting, and no easy accomplishment”, said Excell business development director Bob Pintur, “because it’s a reflection of a member’s dedication, loyalty, and extraordinary growth in the group.”

Hiawatha is also one of only 30 dealers to win the organization’s Excellathon 2018-2019 Growth Incentive trip. The upcoming eight day chartered European river cruise is going to dealers who expanded business with and for vendor sponsors by prescribed amount, and met the contest’s other training and marketing requirements. It marks the company’s third Excellathon win in a row.

Owner Tracy Thompson accepted both awards for Hiawatha during a banquet on the second night of the “Stronger Together” themed conference held April 10-13 at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa in Austin, Texas. He and sales and service coordinator Seth Trusedell were among 450 who attended the event. The number represents a total of 239 Excell member-dealers and manufacturers.

Thompson also competed in the 12th annual Cooking Up Better Lives charity golf tournament at the resort’s Wolfdancer Golf Club, and both he and Truesdell participated with professional graffiti artist Erik Ross to create an original piece to hang in Excell headquarters.

Hiawatha Chef Supply has been a member of the Denver, Colo., based Excell Foodservice Equipment Dealer Network since 2005. The company earlier won the organization’s Excellerator sales awards in 2011, 2015 and 2017, and Excellathon 2014-2015 and 2016-2017. Its purchase volume puts Hiawahta in the top half of the 130 foodservice equipment and supplies dealer enrolled in Excell. Last year’s performance increased the company’s dealer ranking from 88 in 2017 to 56 at the end of last year.

The Excell 2020 Annual Conference will be held March 31 – April 4 at the Renaissance Indian Wells Resort and Spa in Palm Springs, Calif.
