Derocher steps down as managing broker

ESCANABA — Having been in an ownership role for 30 years and after selling Coldwell Banker Pro to Coldwell Banker Schmidt Realtors in June 2017, Darlene Derocher has announced that she is stepping down as sales manager to make way for new leadership to attract and retain talent as well as to continue to grow the company’s market share and service to clients in Escanaba.

“As anyone with longevity in management knows, recruiting talent and especially training, is a tough job. The growth of any company takes a lot of hard work and a leader that is willing to do whatever it takes,” Derocher said.

She intends to complete her transition by the end of this year.

“I’m excited to spend some beach time with my daughter and fiance in Galveston, Texas, this winter, visiting friends and family in Florida and Arizona, and spending more time with my youngest daughter and family in Kalamazoo, Mich., where my only grandchild lives. She is 4 going on 14, and the light of my life. Along with my siblings, I am also devoted to help care for my elderly mom since the passing of my father last year,” she said.

“I am also looking forward to continuing my relationship with Coldwell Banker Schmidt Realtors as an agent, a mentor, and in whatever other capacity my future may hold. I have so much respect for Ken Schmidt, Tom Gray and the staff I have been privileged to come into contact with. When I decided to sell, they were my first choice. I wanted someone to carry on my office’s legacy with the same integrity and professional ideals I embraced. They have not missed the mark.”
