Northern Sun Winery takes honors

BARK RIVER — Four estate grown wines from Northern Sun Winery and Vineyard of Bark River have again taken honors in the INDY International Wine Competition for 2018.

“We’re proud that our consistently award-winning LaCrescent white (2016) was a gold medalist again,” said Northern Sun vintner Dave Anthony. “It has been a popular wine with our customers as well as with the judges.”

Other Northern Sun wines taking honors in the 27th annual competition in early June were: silver medals for a 2016 Ragazza Di Sole (hybrid white blend, from LaCrescent and Brianna grapes) and a 2015 Sole Di Sera (red hybrid blend, from the Marquette and Leon Millot varietals) and a bronze medal in the blend category for a 2016 Sole Di Sera.

Northern Sun was one of 1,500 commercial vintners entered in the competition, sponsored by the Purdue University Wine Grape Team in West Lafayette, Ind.
