Suspect arraigned in Marquette County stabbing case

Marquette County -- The suspect in a stabbing that occurred October 2, 2026, has been arraigned. 36-year-old Joshua Grenier was arraigned on October 5, 2026, in the 96th District Court on one count of Assault with Intent to Murder. His bond was set at $100,000 cash/surety. His next hearing is scheduled for October 15, 2026.
The suspect had been arrested following a stabbing in Marquette County Friday evening. According to a press release from the Michigan State Police (MSP) the victim, who suffered serious injuries, was reported to be in stable condition at a local hospital. No new information on the victim has been made available.
According to the release, shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, troopers from the MSP Negaunee Post, along with additional assisting law enforcement agencies, responded to a residence in Marquette County’s Chocolay Township.
According to the press release, Joshua Grenier allegedly stabbed a 32-year-old male with a knife during an altercation. Grenier also allegedly assaulted a juvenile prior to the stabbing. The stabbing victim sustained serious injuries and was transported by EMS to a local hospital. The juvenile who was assaulted reportedly suffered minor injuries.
Grenier was lodged in the Marquette County Jail, pending his arraignment. The investigation is ongoing and police remind the public, the suspect is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
