ESCANABA — The Delta County Cancer Alliance (DCCA) has announced that it has found a new home on North 18 Street to provide cancer support services.

Following recent flooding of their office at 3430 Ludington Street, the DCCA has been operating out of a temporary office in the Willow Creek Professional Building. “We were fortunate the Gartland family allowed us to use a temporary office across the parking lot,” The DCCA wrote in a press release.

The DCCA did not renew their contract for the office and storage space on Ludington, and have thanked the Gartlands for their partnership, “We are very thankful to the Gartlands who have generously allowed us the space to provide cancer support to Delta County residents for many years at an affordable rate.”

The contract termination had presented the DCCA with many challenges; but only for a short time. In the release sent to the Press, DCCA Board President Gayle DeShambo said she cannot thank the community enough for rallying around the cause to help find a new location that would be comfortable, safe and affordable for both volunteers and clients. She shared there were so many people reaching out to provide support and assistance in finding a new location. Within a few days, Karen Dillabough, President of Christ the King Church contacted the DCCA with some rooms their church was willing to set up to provide services in. When visiting the location, Paulette Potvin, DCCA Treasurer shared, “this just feels like home, it is calm and comfortable”.

The Church has continued to offer support to the DCCA, installing keypads to enter the building and the two rooms they will be working out of as well as furniture, shelving units and file cabinets. Which the DCCA was in need of after the flooding of their old office.

The DCCA hopes to have the new office open for business on Monday, June 1 at 1 p.m. The DCCA noted that office hours will continue to be Monday through Friday, from 1 to 4 p.m. They also ask that visitors park in the avenue parking spots and use the rear entrance to the building.

The DCCA’s new address is as follows:
