Laurie and Derk Oslund

ESCANABA — Laurie Ann Tufnell became the bride of Derk Eric Oslund during an afternoon ceremony held at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Escanaba on Dec. 10, 2022.

Laurie is the daughter of Steve and Nancy Tufnell, of Wells, and Derk is the son of Marty Oslund and Kurk and Michelle Alexander, all of Escanaba.

The 2 p.m. ceremony was officiated by Pastor Lon Hidner.

The maid of honor was Jamie Pirolt, best friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Wendy Tufnell, sister of the bride; Marissa Marshall, daughter of the bride; and

Makayla Marshall, daughter of the bride. 

The best man was Randy Steinhauser, best friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Darren Schemmel, friend of the groom; Derk Oslund Jr., son of the groom; and Nathan Tufnell, nephew of the bride.

The usher was Stacey Burie, “sister” of the bride. The flower girl was Audrie Lacosse, niece of the bride, and ring bearer, was Mikey Burie, “nephew” of the bride.

Laurie is a graduate of Escanaba Area High SChool, class of 1996. She has a bachelors degree in elementary education from Western Michigan University, and is currently employed as a kindergarten teacher at Nah Tah Wahsh PSA.

Derk graduated from Escanaba Area High School in 1993 and graduated from State Technical School in 1993. He is currently employed at the Escanaba Country Club.
